Placenta Encapsulation

I want placenta encapsulation

A meaningful way to honor the organ that nourished your baby for nine months.

Your placenta worked quietly and tirelessly throughout pregnancy.

It nourished your baby. Supported their growth. Facilitated the exchange of oxygen and nutrients. And when your baby was born, its work was complete.

For centuries, cultures around the world have honored the placenta as a significant part of the birth and postpartum experience.

Placenta encapsulation offers you a way to carry that tradition into your own postpartum journey.

I provide professional placenta preparation and encapsulation for women in Aberdeen and surrounding communities in Northeast South Dakota.

What is placenta encapsulation?

Placenta encapsulation is the process of preparing your placenta through a carefully controlled process of dehydrating, grinding, and encapsulating it into easy-to-take capsules.

Rather than leaving your placenta behind after birth, you can choose to have it prepared for your postpartum period and incorporated into your own personal postpartum rituals.

For many women, it is simply about honoring the placenta and choosing a practice that feels meaningful to them.

For others, it is one small piece of a larger intention to nourish and care for themselves deeply during the postpartum transition.

There is no one right way to do postpartum.

This is simply an option available to you.

Your placenta. Your choice. Your postpartum.

I believe postpartum care should be about more than simply checking whether you've physically recovered from birth.

You have just crossed an enormous threshold.

Your body has grown a baby, birthed a baby, and now begins the work of becoming a mother in an entirely new way.

This is a time for nourishment, rest, support, and being cared for.

Placenta encapsulation can be one small part of creating that intentional postpartum experience.

How it works

01 | Reserve your service

Book your placenta encapsulation before your baby's birth.

We'll go over the process and everything you need to know about handling and storing your placenta after birth.

02 | After your birth

Your placenta will need to be properly handled and refrigerated or kept appropriately chilled as soon as possible after delivery.

Whether you birth at home, in a birth center, or at the hospital, I'll provide you with clear instructions for caring for your placenta until I receive it.

03 | I prepare your placenta

Once your placenta is in my care, I carefully prepare it according to my training and sanitation protocols.

The placenta is cleaned, dehydrated, ground, and encapsulated.

04 | Your capsules are ready

Your finished capsules will be packaged and returned to you as quickly as possible, typically within 2–3 days, depending on timing and circumstances.

You'll receive instructions for use and storage with your finished capsules.

Why women choose placenta encapsulation

Women choose placenta encapsulation for many different reasons.

Some are drawn to the traditional practice.

Some want to honor the placenta that sustained their baby.

Some appreciate having a tangible ritual to mark the transition into postpartum.

And some simply feel called to try it.

You don't need to have a particular reason.

If this practice resonates with you, that's enough.

A note about the evidence

Placenta encapsulation is a traditional and complementary postpartum practice, not a medical treatment.

Research on consuming encapsulated placenta is limited, and there is not currently strong clinical evidence to support specific health outcomes.

I don't promise that placenta capsules will prevent postpartum depression, increase milk supply, replace iron supplementation, balance hormones, or produce any other specific medical outcome.

What I can promise is that your placenta will be handled with intention, care, and attention to proper preparation and sanitation.

And ultimately, the choice to encapsulate your placenta is yours.

Your postpartum deserves to be intentional.

The world tends to focus so much on preparing women for birth.

But birth is only the beginning.

What happens afterward matters, too.

Your nourishment.
Your rest.
Your healing.
Your support.
Your transition into motherhood.

Placenta encapsulation can be one small, meaningful piece of that bigger picture.

If you're planning to keep your placenta after birth, let's make a plan for it before your baby arrives.
